Bespoke

We offer a range of solutions to suit your budget, from simple and straightforward to more complex websites. Your site will be designed with you, to present the best image possible to the public.

Responsive

Websites need to look their best across a range of devices, from mobiles to desktops. A website created with responsive design is crucial to keeping your business looking relevant.

Modern

A dated website can give a negative impression of your company. We use cutting edge designs and coding techniques in our websites to keep our customers one step ahead.

"Pete was great to work with when designing our website. He listened to our ideas and requirements and produced the clear interesting website we wanted. Where we had little knowledge in websites, he took the time to explain things through. He was also easy to get hold of with any questions and gave us updates when it was in construction. I would definitely recommend him to others."

Devon Countryside Landscapes

Stuart Aiers of Devon Countryside Landscapes started his business from scratch and needed branding and a professional website completed as fast as possible. Stuart worked closely with us over the next couple of weeks to design a bespoke website to advertise his services to the local area. We quickly got the site live for him and he has been rapidly expanding his business since.

Paignton Osteopaths

Lynette Taylor and Clare Reed of Paignton Osteopaths had an existing successful business which they wanted to promote with a website and new logo. They were open to the design of the site and had a rough concept for a logo. After settling on new designs, we got to work and put together a logo and professional website to really showcase the company.

The Little Black Dragon

The Little Black Dragon is a new series of children's books from author Frances Thompson, who wanted a website to promote them. Working with Frances we designed a site with shopping links, a gallery of illustrations and quotes from the books to help inspire a new generation of readers.

Andrew McCarthy Photography

Andrew McCarthy Photography

Award-winning photographer Devon photographer Andrew McCarthy needed a website that he could use as an online portfolio, to sell tickets for workshops and talks, write a blog, reviews and more. I created him a website to do all of this based on the Wordpress platform with a custom design and secure online store with PayPal integration.

What makes a website?

Understanding the workings of a website can seem daunting at first but it is quite straightforward once you know how. The following three things are needed to get a basic website up and running. We can provide all or some of the following to suit your requirements. As with anything, extras can be added to this.

1. Domain

The domain is the website address, such as thompsonwebsites.co.uk. You will need to make sure that your domain is available to buy before you settle on one. A domain is purchased and renewed annually for a small charge.

2. Hosting

Web hosting is the term to describe where your website lives online. Websites need to be hosted on a web server which is always switched on and connected to the internet so that it is always ready to be viewed. Large data centers offer web servers for hosting and charge on a monthly or annual basis.

3. Website creation

The website will need to be designed to your needs and then written by designers with skills in current web languages. At Thompson Websites there will be a one off charge for this service which will be agreed with you once a project specification has been finalised.
